A body moving within a dim interior

Movementing is an artistic research practice concerned with bodily movement, material trace and embodied knowledge.

Movementing

01

Movements generate knowledge, knowledge generates movements.

Around the canvas, colours gather textures, materials, concepts, emotions, intentions and intuitions.

The body crouched beside the accumulating marks
A repeated crouching gesture within the same action
A close view of the body and hand moving across the marked surface
02

Space changes the movement.

The environment does not merely hold the work. It is a dimension where knowledge and experience are gathered, scattered and rearranged.

A wide view of a body standing close to the marked suspended surface

Movementing is a manifestation of something unable to be articulated.

03

Shadow Work

From the HYBER series. The image is made through presence and obstruction: a body interrupts light, while the trace of that interruption becomes the work.

04

HYBER Clouds

From the HYBER series. The body becomes a tool for inquiry, carrying what cannot yet be articulated into image and atmosphere. A gesture appears, recedes and remains suspended in the white field.

05

Movement in time, moving into other states.

Duration becomes landscape, becomes image, becomes object, passing in and out of visibility.
